From the Desk of an Educator

How do I find websites to help my children learn outside of school?

This question comes up often when I talk to parents who want to extend learning outside the classroom.  The reality is, as parents, we don't always have time to sit next to our children to help then with the skills they need to be successful learners.  Whether it's help with homework, practicing their reading or just encouraging them to 'play' some games that have an education focus - we as parents want effective and efficient ways to direct our child's learning at home.  I hope this page is helpful.  I've divided resources into two categories; 1. sites for your learners and 2. sites to provide you with resources.  I've included a form in case you have any questions or if you would like to add to the lists.  Best of luck!

Starfall
Starfall.com opened in September of 2002 as a free public service to teach children to read with phonics. Our systematic phonics approach, in conjunction with phonemic awareness practice, is perfect for preschool, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, special education, homeschool, and English language development (ELD, ELL, ESL). Starfall is an educational alternative to other entertainment choices for children.
